Cheaper liquid Paxil?

Good news for all those of you in America who are trying to stop taking Paxil. The liquid version of the drug will get cheaper (I hope).

This weekend, the FDA approved first-time generic formulations for paroxetine HCl 10mg/5ml oral suspension (Paxil).

The hope has got to be that Glaxo will bring their price down on liquid Paxil in order to compete with the generic versions that will soon become available.

It’s just a shame that Glaxo couldn’t have helped sufferers out many years ago by making the liquid cheaper – rather than maintaining a high price and making it difficult to get hold of. Maybe they could have even offered it free for people who suffered withdrawal problems, it shouldn’t have cost Glaxo much money because as they tell us in the Patient Information Leaflet: “Most people find that any symptoms on stopping Seroxat are mild and go away on their own within two weeks”.

Sorry, they say what?
